Because the veneer is pressed onto a stable engineered core, the top is less prone to the broad seasonal movement associated with solid lumber. This can be particularly useful for large-format tops, tight layouts, and projects in climate-controlled but heavily used interiors.

Veneer also allows a project to achieve a refined wood finish at a more controlled cost. A consistent walnut look across fifty dining tables, bar-height tables, and custom banquettes can be more practical with veneer than with solid walnut. Outdoor use is a separate decision. Standard interior solid wood and standard veneer should not be assumed suitable for exterior exposure. UV, rain, standing water, and temperature changes require materials and finishes designed specifically for outdoor hospitality environments.
